Mill Valley Realtor® Recognized Nationally for Work to Support Traumatic Brain Injury Victims
Schuring Center for Brain Injury Recovery Will Receive $10,000 grant from NAR
WASHINGTON (October 2, 2019) – Realtor® Kimberly Strub with Coldwell Banker, in Mill Valley, CA, is one of five winners chosen for the National Association of Realtors®’ Good Neighbor Award. Strub chairs the board of the nonprofit Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery, which aims to improve the lives of people with brain injuries and their families through rehabilitation therapy, recreational activities and support groups. In a decade, she has raised $700,000, tripled both the organization’s reach and annual budget, and helped establish a concussion protocol for children in the Marin County school district.
Over the past 20 years, the Good Neighbor Awards program has awarded $1.3 million in grants to more than 200 Realtor®-led nonprofits. Their impact has been felt in 40 states, 15 countries and in Puerto Rico. In total, those efforts have served more than 41 million meals to the hungry, sheltered nearly 300,000 people in need and raised hundreds of millions of dollars for various causes, including more than $104 million to fund medical research and healthcare.
“This year marks the 20-year milestone of the Good Neighbor Awards Program recognizing Realtor® volunteers across the country,” said NAR President John Smaby, a second generation Realtor® from Edina, Minnesota. “I am proud to honor Kim Strub for doing so much for her community and those around her by working to improve the lives of people with brain injuries.”

Strub and the other four Good Neighbor Award winners will receive a $10,000 grant for their charity and will be featured in the November-December issue of Realtor® Magazine. The recipients will be presented with crystal trophies on Saturday, November 9, during the 2019 Realtors® Conference & Expo in San Francisco.
NAR's Good Neighbor Awards program is supported by primary sponsor realtor.com® and Wells Fargo. Nominees were judged on their personal investment of time along with their financial and material contributions to benefit their cause. To be eligible, nominees must be NAR members in good standing.
