Become a Member

The managing broker in your office determines whether or not they wish to hold membership in a REALTOR® Association. When he or she elects to hold membership as a REALTOR® Office, you are also eligible to hold REALTOR® membership. If you elect not to hold REALTOR® membership, the Designated REALTOR® in your office will be assessed a fee for every non-member licensee in the office. We strongly suggest that you speak directly with your managing broker about REALTOR® membership. 

REALTOR® membership is three-tiered. With membership in MAR, members also belong to California Association of REALTORS® and the National Association of REALTORS®.

Types of Membership

An individual who is not a sole proprietor, principal partner, corporate officer or in positions of management control, and is associated with the office of a Designated REALTOR® Member. REALTOR® Members are subject to the payment of annual dues. 


  • Primary Member: Subject to the payment of National, State and local dues through MAR. | DOWNLOAD APPLICATION

If you are currently working in a real-estate related field (e.g. mortgage company, home inspection, newspaper, bank, communications, title service, pest control, home builder, etc.) you are encouraged to join the Marin Association of REALTORS® as an Affiliate Member. Through your Affiliate Membership you will be linked to more than 1,400 local REALTORS®, allowing you to create business contacts and network the value of your services.

REALTOR® Emeritus Member 
MAR bylaws stipulate that an Emeritus member is one who has held REALTOR® Membership in the National Association for a cumulative period of forty (40) years. Local, State and National dues are waived for REALTOR® Emeritus.

Institute Affiliate Member 
Individuals who hold a professional designation awarded by a qualified Institute, Society or Council affiliated with the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® that addresses a specialized area other than residential brokerage or individuals who otherwise hold a class of membership in such Institute, Society or Council that confers the right to vote or hold office. Any such individual, if otherwise eligible, may elect to hold REALTOR® membership, subject to payment of applicable dues for such membership.
