SUPRA will be sunsetting (aka shutting down) all XpressKEYs by the end of the year as a result of major cellular network carriers phasing out 3G wireless technology. The Marin REALTORS® will begin shutting off all XpressKEYs on July 31st to ensure that all members and co-operating members are on compliant technology before the end of 2021.
Why is the XpressKEY going away?
XpressKEYs run on 3G and because of that, will no longer be able to function once the network is shut down. This means that you will not be able to access any homes with an XpressKEY. You will need to upgrade to a SUPRA eKEY in order to avoid any service interruptions, and to continue to co-oping with other associations utilizing SUPRA products.
Why should I switch to an eKEY?
eKEYs offer better functionality with mobile phones, more security and are easier to operate than the old models. Most importantly, SUPRA and major cellular providers continue to upgrade and support the eKEY technology, which operate on your mobile phone.
The Marin REALTORS® encourages you to trade in your XpressKEY before the end of the summer to ensure that you have a key that will function through the end of the year and beyond.
